Tattersalls Ascot is to reward the connections of any two-year-old graduate of the Ascot Breeze Up Sale that goes on to win the same year at Royal Ascot, a Bonus of £100,000.
Tattersalls Ireland CEO Matt Mitchell said: “We are delighted to be launching a £100,000 Bonus for any two-year-old winner at the Royal Meeting sold at our Ascot Breeze Up in April. The Sale, for the early maturing, sharp, precocious type now has the added incentive of a £100,000 bonus. The success of the AscotBreeze Up Sales graduates has been well documented in recent years, and has already sold a Coventry Stakes winner at the Royal Meeting with The Wow Signal (pictured in the Tattersalls Ascot Sales Arena), having been sold only two months previously. There has been a significant number of Breeze Up graduates that have won as two-year-olds at the Royal meeting and we felt it was worth rewarding connections with this Bonus in the event it happens”
Breeze Up consignor John Cullinan on the announcement commented: “This is a fantastic initiative. The Breeze Up Consignors Association supports this Bonus wholeheartedly. It’s no secret it was a challenging year for Breeze Up consignors and we welcome any initiative to get buyers to the Sales. There has been a significant number of Breeze Up graduates win at Royal Ascot and this £100,000 Bonus coupled with the early timing of this Sale gives buyers an early opportunity to buy a Royal Ascot two-year-old as was done with previously at this sale. The Bonus is an excellent idea to reward winning connections and the vendor and we will be supporting this sale with a good class of horse. I hope and fully expect fellow Breeze Up consignors will follow suit”.
The £100,000 Bonus would be an 80/20 split between the owner of the Royal Ascot two-year-old winner and the vendor of the horse sold from the Tattersalls Ascot Breeze Up Sale.
