The Jessica Harrington trained Coole River provided Grade 2 success for Tattersalls Ireland’s Derby Sale when landing the Grade 2 Johnstown Hurdle at Navan on Saturday. Under difficult conditions, Coole River made all the running and despite efforts from fellow front runner, Lucky William, the son of Carroll House managed to maintain the lead to secure victory. Coole River will now aim for the Fairyhouse or Punchestown festivals.

Coole River was purchased as a foal at the 2004 November National Hunt Sale by Hugh Bleahen for €10,000 from Seamus Larkin and returned to the 2007 Derby Sale by Bleahen’s L’Orient House to be sold to his trainer, Jessica Harrington for €40,000.
