Tattersalls Ireland’s Managing Director, George Mernagh reflected on a remarkable sale:
“This has been an excellent sale. What we have witnessed over the past two days has been amazing. The feeling prior to this sale was that we had one of the strongest ever catalogues assembled. The success of Derby Sale graduates on the racetrack this year had given added confidence in the Sale however the level of trade has surpassed our wildest expectations and the competition for horses has been immense. Vendors should be commended for the outstanding horses which they produced and the Tattersalls Ireland €100,000 Sales Bumper has resulted in a number of more forward individuals being sold.
The number of new and long standing customers from the UK has been a revelation and is a testament to the success of the Sale. It was also most satisfying to see a number of young French trainers purchase for the first time. The level of trade can give renewed confidence to pinhookers to the National Hunt market and our new Point to Point Sale next May. We would like to also thank the team at Irish Thoroughbred Marketing for their tireless efforts.”
