Tattersalls Ireland’s Dick Turpin finally landed a Group 1 victory when claiming the Prix Jean Prat at Chantilly yesterday (Sunday July 4th).

The son of Arakan has been runner up in the English and French 2000 Guineas, as well as the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot just a few weeks ago.

Dick Turpin always travelled well throughout the race but in a split second he hit the front with the turn of foot that allowed him to turn over stablemate Canford Cliffs in the Greenham Stakes. Fellow Tattersalls Ireland graduate Xtension and Siyouni attempted to close in, but this victory was always going to belong to Dick Turpin.

Dick Turpin was sold as a yearling at the 2008 September Sale by Mountpleasant House for €26,000 to Peter Doyle Bloodstock.
