The record price for a store gelding was breached on Friday afternoon when lot 409, a 3 year old by Presenting out of Queen’s Leader from Goldford Stud was sold to Mrs Ann Potts for €320,000 and just over half an hour later, the price was beaten when lot 424, another three year old from Goldford Stud, this time the property of Lady Jane Grosvenor was sold to Bobby O’Ryan for €325,000.

On the first day of the Derby Sale, just after Six O’ Clock, Lot 206 a three year old gelding by Presenting out of top class mare Function Dream was sold to John Joe O’Neill for €130,000 by Headfield Stud.
The price achieved surpassed that of any other store sale this year. With two hours left of selling, two lots had made in excess of €100,000, including lot 72, a gelding by Presenting out of Beenaround who was sold by Hillview Stud to M V Magnier for €115,000.

Rose Hip landed her career best last night when winning the Listed Nijinsky Stakes at Leopardstown. Owned and trained by Joseph Murphy in Fethard, Rose Hip beat off nearest rival, Shintoh to win by one and a half lengths.

Burning Thread continued to progress up the ladder when winning the Listed Scurry Stakes at Sandown Park. The three-year-old son of Captain Rio made all the running and stayed on well to win by half a length.

Tattersalls Ireland graduates landed a 1-2 in the Listed Naas Sprint when Miss Gorica saw off opposition from Rain Delayed to gain victory by a head. The victory was a first at Listed level for the winner, who holds an entry in the Wokingham Handicap at Royal Ascot.

Tattersalls Ireland December Breeders Flat Sale recorded Group 1 Oaks success when graduate Snow Fairy sealed victory at Epsom. Snow Fairy who runs in the colours of Cristina Patino’s Anamoine Ltd., justified connections decision to supplement her for the race following her impressive win in the Height of Fashion Stakes at Goodwood.
