Sensational September Yearling Sale Catalogue Out Now

This season has seen three outstanding Guineas winners graduate from the sale headlined by Galileo Gold, the QIPCO 2,000 Guineas, St James’s Palace (G1) winner and a leading performer of his generation. The sale has also lived up to its reputation as the best source of two-year-old winners and this year has produced over 70 two-year-old track successes to date. 

Fairyhouse in September is a must for the discerning buyer looking for well-produced yearlings by leading sires from quality winning pedigrees. Lot 481 certainly ticks all those boxes for purchasers being a half-brother to the 2016 Group 1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes and dual Group 3 winner, My Dream Boat. The colt, offered by Woodtown House, is by the Group 1 producing sire Elnadim and out of the young Choisir mare Betty Burke, the dam of two winners from two runners. 

In the same session, a Rip Van Winkle colt (Lot 449) is offered by Taroka Stud and he is from the high-class European pedigree of the dual champion five-time Group 1 winner Divine Proportions, the three-time Group 1 winner Whipper and the Classic winner Shirley Heights. 

From a similar leading family is Lot 188, a Casamento colt out of the two-year-old winner and Listed Silken Glider Stakes runner-up Million Waves, the dam of a Listed performer, three winners, and a half-sister to the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches (G1) winner Elusive Wave. 

A pedigree boasting strong two-year-old form is Lot 380.  By Power, one of this year’s leading first-season sires, who has eight lots catalogued over the two parts of the sale, the colt is out of a juvenile winning Listed-placed daughter of Bluebird, who also finished fourth in Moyglare Stakes (G1). She is a half-sister to the dam of last year’s Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes runner-up Log Out Island and from the talented further family of stakes winners and performers Lady Links, Selinka, Bold Edge and Brave Edge.

The preceding lot is a Ballybin Stud consigned filly by leading sire Kodiac out of the Group 2 winner Tropical Lady (Lot 379). Also by the Tally-Ho Stud-based sire who has 31 lots listed in the sale, is a filly out of an own-sister to the Golden Jubilee Stakes (G1) winner Fayr Jag (Lot 113),  a filly from the family of 2015 and 2016 Group sprinter Strath Burn (Lot 133)  while Tinnakill House is offer a colt out of the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) winner Shining Hour (Lot 309),  the dam of two black-type performers. Lot 6 gets the ball rolling for Kodiac. The April-born filly is a half-sister to the US Grade 2 winner and Grade 1 runner-up Valbenny. 

Sea The Stars who is just into his fourth year with runners and already in second placing on the leading European sires’ list, has three lots catalogued. Lot 118 is a colt offered by Mount Coote Stud and from the family of the Queen Mary Stakes (G2) winner Maqaasid, the Coronation Stakes (G1) and 1,000 Guineas heroine Ghanaati and from the further family of Height Of Fashion. Herbertstown Stud brings a colt out of the Group 3 performer Ragiam, a half-sister to the former champion Italian juvenile Lui Rei (Lot 263),  while Grangemore Stud’s draft includes a colt from the deep black-type pedigree of Leporello, Poppy Carew and Sing Softly (Lot 315). 

Leading sprint sire Oasis Dream has a select draft of one colt, a first foal colt out of the Listed-placed Harmonic Note from The Castlebridge Consignment (Lot 77) while Acclamation is represented by eight, including a three-quarters relation to the Group 1 winner and sire Equiano from Norelands Stud (Lot 21). 

Through the September Yearling Sale and Part II buyers have 13 chances to buy a yearling by Sir Prancealot, the current British and Irish leading first-season sire and Mountarmstrong Stud has a first foal out of the two-year-old Listed-placed mare Majestic Alexander, a half-sister to two black-type performers, including the Cornwallis Stakes (G3) and Molecomb Stakes (G3) winner Majestic Missile (Lot 166). 

Over 15 new sires are represented including Most Improved with 13 lots. His draft includes a colt from the good family of Splice, Soar and Feet So Fast (Lot 420), a colt out of a half-sister to two multiple International Group 1 winners Silvano and Sabiango (Lot 307), a filly out of a half-sister to Dare And Go, a dual US Grade 1 winner (Lot 260) and a grand-son of the good race mare Almond Mousse (Lot 480). 

Bullet Train, the own-brother to the outstanding Frankel, has one colt catalogued (Lot 12)  while the 2,000 Guineas and dual Derby winner Camelot has a draft of four which includes a filly out of the juvenile black-type mare Queen Jock (Lot 259). 

The most well represented new sire is the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes (G1) third placed Red Jazz who has 36 lots catalogued. Lot 165 is a half-brother to two juvenile winners, one of which is also Listed placed while in Part II Glenspring Farm offers a grand-daughter of the Group 3 Firth Of Cyde Stakes winner (Lot 604). 

All yearlings catalogued and offered for sale are eligible for the €300,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes 2017 to be run on Irish Champions Weekend at The Curragh Racecourse.

The September Yearling Sale takes place on Tuesday 20 and Wednesday 21 September with Part II of the sale taking place on Thursday 22 and Friday 23 September 2016. The sale starts at 10am each day.
