Strong Trade Continues for Foals at Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale

The day’s top price was a Kayf Tara colt sold by Cleaboy Stud & Coppice Farm to Johnny Collins of Brown Island Stables (Lot 860). It was a 13th purchase this week by the pinhooking stable, and before the day was out another purchase put Brown Island level with Aiden Murphy as the most prolific purchasers at this year’s sale.

"He's a lovely horse, by a good sire and all being well he'll come back to the Derby Sale," said Collins.

The foal is out of a half-sister to the talented duo of Accordion Etoile and French Accordion and it was another good sale for Sean Gorman's Cleaboy Stud & Coppice Farm, the week’s third-leading consignor on aggregate.

Top sire Presenting was responsible for the second highest-priced lot of the session – a son of the Old Vic mare One Cool Lady, a full-sister the Grade 1-winning chasers One Cool Cookie and In Compliance (Lot 1001) who was sold for €52,000.

Fachtna Twomey, who was bidding on behalf of buyer Tim Crowe, said: “We couldn’t fault him. He is a lovely horse with a good page and is by the right sire. He will come back for resale.”

The third top lot was a Shirocco colt out of the useful racemare Dani California. Consigned by Dungarvan Stud, Aiden Murphy purchased the colt for €50,000.

The strong clearance rate that has been a feature of the sale continued at 81% today. The day’s median dropped to €11,000 from €13,500 in 2014 (-19%), a small fall was also seen in the average from €14,799 to €14,028 (-5%). The day’s turnover was €2,749,500 (-4%).
