The €100,000 Tattersalls Ireland George Mernagh Memorial Sales Bumper ended a superb day of racing at Fairyhouse on Sunday, with Derby Sale graduate I’M SLIPPY prevailing in a thrilling finish. The son of Maxios was a €70,000 purchase at the 2024 Derby Sale from Timmy Hillman’s Castledillon Stud by his trainer Robert Tyner, and was given a strong ride by Josh Williamson to prevail by half-a-length. He had previously been sold as a foal at the November National Hunt Sale by Pat Foley’s Aughabeg Stables to Castledillon Stud. The four-year-old is closely related to a Grade 2 winning hurdler in France, and on this evidence the Brendan Keogh-owned gelding looks an exciting prospect for novice hurdling next season. The Stuart Crawford-trained LOOK ME emerged with credit as he was only overhauled by the winner inside the last 100 yards, and this €45,000 Derby Sale purchase is another graduate likely to make his mark over hurdles. EARLY DAWNING faired best of Willie Mullins’ five representatives, with the son of Authorized showing plenty of promise to take third place. The last two renewals of the race have been won by three-time Grade 1 winner Brighterdaysahead and Grade 1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner Kopek Des Bordes, and connections of I’M SLIPPY will be hoping their charge can reach similar heights. The catalogue for the 2025 Derby Sale will be published online on Tuesday 6th May.
