Quality to the Fore as 2026 Derby Sale Catalogue Goes Online

Tattersalls Ireland is delighted to announce that the catalogue for the 2026 Derby Sale, held in partnership with MSL Mercedes-Benz, is now available to view online.

This year’s Derby Sale will feature 420 lots, with an additional 216 catalogued in Part II. Now in its second year, the two-year-old section will feature 21 lots at the end of the first day.

The 2026 National Hunt season has once again showcased the continued success of Derby Sale graduates. The campaign began in emphatic fashion as GREY DAWNING landed the first British Grade 1 of the season in the Betfair Chase at Haydock setting the tone for a remarkable season at the highest level.

Across the major fixtures of the season from Leopardstown’s Christmas Racing Festival to the Dublin Racing Festival, Cheltenham and on to Aintree, Derby Sale graduates consistently delivered at the highest level. Leading performers including BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD, JONBON, ROMEO COOLIO, and GREY DAWNING secured multiple Grade 1 victories. That success continued to Irelands’ most valuable race, with SOLDIER IN MILAN landing the €500,000 Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse. Derby Sale graduates finished the season with 12 Grade 1 winners – more than any other Store sale.

The sale has also established itself as the most profitable source of four-year-old point-to-pointers.

This year’s catalogue includes a number of standout individuals, among them a No Risk At All half-brother to BRIGHTERDAYSAHEAD, MIGHTY POTTER, CALDWELL POTTER, FRENCH DYNAMITE and INDIANA JONES, and a Karaktar filly out of a half-sister to KOKTAIL DIVIN, with a wide range of other lots also expected to attract strong interest, some of which are highlighted below. The catalogue also features more progeny out of Grade 1-winning and Grade 1-performing National Hunt mares than any other store sale, alongside a higher percentage of progeny out of black-type mares, underlining the depth and quality on offer throughout the catalogue.

Lot 294 Narda des Obeaux (Kapgarde/Varda des Obeaux) – an own-sister to ISAAC DES OBEAUX and a three-part sister to CLAN DES OBEAUX.

Lot 317 Crystal Ocean/Adriana des Mottes – out of a Grade 1 winning and multiple Grade 1 placed mare, also a half-sister to EMBASSY GARDENS.

Lot 596 Poet’s Word/Black Money – a half-sister to Grade 2 Bumper placed Tiktok Casey.

Commenting on the release of the 2026 Derby Sale catalogue, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Simon Kerins said;

All horses catalogued and offered at the Derby Sale are eligible for the Tattersalls Ireland MSL Mercedes-Benz Sales Bumper, which will be run at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival 2027. The vendor of the winning horse will drive away in a brand-new Mercedes-Benz.
