2020 sales conclude at Tattersalls Ireland with a top price of €45,000 at the November Flat Foal and Breeding Stock Sale

November Flat Foal and Breeding Stock Sale featuring a new yearling section
closed proceedings at the Fairyhouse venue for 2020. The sale produced a
highest price of €45,000 for a yearling, an aggregate of €439,700, a median of
€3,000 and an average of €6,107.
Yearlings
Top lot in the yearling section was a filly by Dawn Approach out of My Fere Lady who is a full sister to the winner Feminista. Consigned by Clare Manning’s Boherguy Stud, she was knocked down to Clongan House for €45,000 (Lot 925 pictured).
BBA Ireland secured the Belardo filly offered by Peter Kelly’s Ballybin Stud. Out of Fashion Line, herself a winner and from the further family of PRINCESS YAIZA the filly was sold for €33,000 (Lot 1004).
Foals
His sire was sourced in this very ring as a yearling at the September Yearling Sale and today, a colt by Unfortunately topped the foal section selling for €25,000. Out of winning dam Celestial Dream, the March born colt is a sibling to six winners including Group 3 placed The Last Marju. Consigned by Kilmore Stud on behalf of Ms Audrey F. Thompson, he was sold to Ivor Andray Bloodstock. (Lot 1046).
At the conclusion of the November Flat Foal and Breeding Stock Sale and sales at Tattersalls Ireland for 2020, CEO Matt Mitchell commented;
"Today we concluded the 2020 sales season at Tattersalls Ireland. Reflecting on the year, 2020 has been one of the most challenging to date for all of us. That said, we have been able to conclude a successful season working closely with our colleagues at Park Paddocks and in tandem with HRI, ITM and Goffs. A heartfelt thank you must go to our loyal clients, when even in the most uncertain times, continued their commitment to Tattersalls Ireland and for that we are extremely grateful.
The year may have been testing, but the resilience of the bloodstock market is a testament to the industry. The market leading Derby Sale produced the second highest priced filly for the sale on record when the half-sister to Altior was sold for €300,000 to Gordon Elliott and Aidan O’Ryan. The September Yearling Sale saw a record price of £325,000 as well as the Goresbridge Breeze Up Sale seeing a 9% increase in average and a median price of €21,978, an increase of 22%. The November National Hunt Sale achieved its own records with the highest average on record and a record price for a mare when Laurina was sold for €290,000.
This year we also saw the implementation of Live Online Bidding which is a perfect example of how the industry is evolving and has adapted to circumstances.
