Breeze Up Sale Grad Piccola Piuma Strikes in Tattersalls Italian Oaks

Breeze Up Sale graduate Piccola Piumo won the Group 2 Tattersalls Premio Oaks d’Italia.

The Group 2 Tattersalls Premio Oaks d’Italia at Milan on Sunday was won by the 2025 Breeze Up Sale graduate PICCOLA PIUMA, who was providing trainer Stefano Botti with a sixth win in the prestigious contest.

It was a fifth career win for the daughter of Saxon Warrior, who was purchased from Stephen Byrne’s Knockgraffon Stables by Valfredo Valiani at last year’s Breeze Up Sale.

She beat a field of 14 rivals and ran out an impressive three-and-a-quarter length winner. It was a third course win at Milan for Piccola Piuma, and a step into Group 1 company could be next for the fast-improving filly.

On the supporting card at Milan, there was success in the Group 3 Premio Carlo Vittadini for KABIR , who was achieving a fourth career success and a second at Group 3 level.

He was purchased at the 2023 September Yearling Sale from Beech Tree Stud by Razza Latina.

The success of Piccola Piuma and Kabir followed on from a memorable result at Royal Ascot for Tattersalls Ireland graduate ROGUE DIPLOMAT.

Royal Hunt Cup winner Rogue Diplomat is a graduate of the September Yearling Sale.

The son of Calyx produced a career best effort to win the Royal Hunt Cup. It was a sixth career win for the four-year-old, who was bred by Mrs Noreen McManus, and is out of a daughter of the Group 1 performer Sent From Heaven.

James Owens’ charge is a graduate of the September Yearling Sale, where he was sold by Edmond Ryan’s Weir View Stud to Ryan Conran’s Lacka Bloodstock.

Entries for the September Yearling Sale remain open, and it is becoming a sale of choice for vendors, after a record breaking edition of the sale in 2025.
