4 Oct 2025 Share on X Share on Facebook Caballo Lands Group 1 Cadran at Longchamp Prix du Cadran winner Caballo De Mar is a graduate of the September Yearling Sale.Caballo De Mar maintained his rapid ascent within the staying division as he won the Group 1 Prix du Cadran at Longchamp.It was a first attempt at two-and-a-half miles for Caballo De Mar, but any stamina concerns were unfounded as he quickened to the front with just under two furlongs remaining, and stayed on strongly to land the big staying prize of the weekend.The Group 1 success was a significant milestone for trainer George Scott as it marked a first win at Group 1 level for the Newmarket based trainer.Caballo De Mar is owned by Victorious Forever and was ridden by Tom Marquand.The four-year-old is a graduate of the 2022 September Yearling Sale where he was sold by Jerome and Lisa Hulin’s Acorn Stud to George Scott and Billy Jackson-Stops for €33,000.It was also a landmark first Group 1 success for his sire Phoenix Of Spain, while he was bred by Barouche Stud, and was adding to his Group 3 German St Leger win last month. It was a sixth win this year for Caballo De Mar, whose rate of improvement has been astonishing, having won his first race this year from a handicap rating of 75.George Scott and Billy Jackson-Stops recently purchased the top priced lot at the September Yearling Sale, when securing a son of Starspangledbanner for €200,000.It was a remarkable fourth Group 1 winning graduate from the September Yearling Sale this year, with Cercene, Docklands and Time For Sandals having all won top level prizes at Royal Ascot in June. The final flat sale of the year at Tattersalls Ireland is the Sapphire Sale, which takes place on December 16th, with the entry fee for foals just €295.
