GOLD CUP GLORY TOPS OFF AN AMAZING DAY FOR TATTERSALLS IRELAND GRADUATES

OUR CONOR romped home a massive fifteen lengths clear to demolish the rest of the field when winning the Grade 1 Triumph Hurdle for the Man About Town Syndicate, Dessie Hughes and Bryan Cooper.

OUR CONOR was sold at the 2010 September Yearling Sale by Gerrardstown House Stud for €4,500 to Noel Hayes.

Derby Sale graduate TED VEALE cruised to victory to secure the Grade 3 Vincent O’Brien County Handicap Hurdle, giving trainer Tony Martin a festival double following the success of fellow Tattersalls Ireland graduate BENEFFICIENT yesterday along with providing jockey Bryan Cooper with a festival treble.

Owned by John Breslin, TED VEALE was sold at the 2010 Derby Sale by Bishopstown Stud for €5,000 to Colin Magnier. Prior to this, the six-year-old son of Revoque was sold as a foal at the 2007 November National Hunt Sale by Womanagh Valley Farm for €11,000 to Bishopstown Stud.

AT FISHERS CROSS, unbeaten on his last four starts enjoyed a career highlight with an emphatic win in the Grade 1 Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle for owner JP McManus, trainer Rebecca Curtis and jockey AP McCoy.

AT FISHERS CROSS was sold as a foal at the 2007 November National Hunt Sale by Grange Stud for €22,000 to Weirview Stables.

The pinnacle of the festival, the 2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup was won in a fighting finish by the impressive BOBS WORTH trained by Nicky Henderson for The Not Afraid Partnership with Barry Geraghty on board. The Gold Cup winner also provided his trainer with his half century of winners at the Cheltenham Festival.  

2013 Cheltenham Gold Cup winner BOBS WORTH was sold as a foal at the 2005 November National Hunt Sale by his Mrs. Lois C Eadie for €11,000 to Rathmore Stud who returned him as a yearling to the 2006 November National Hunt Sale, selling the son of Bob Back to his jockey Barry Geraghty for €16,500.

The 2012 Foxhunters Chase winner SALSIFY returned to the 2013 Cheltenham Festival to regain his title for family combination of trainer Rodger Sweeney, his son and jockey Coleman Sweeney and wife and owner Mrs. JB Sweeney.

SALSIFY was sold at the 2006 November National Hunt Sale by Barons Hill Stud for €3,200 to Martin Hogan.

A grand total of twelve Tattersalls Ireland graduates won at the 2013 Cheltenham Festival this week including Grade 1 wins from Derby Sale graduates CHAMPAGNE FEVER, THE NEW ONE and CUE CARD along with more Grade 1 wins for LORD WINDERMERE and BRIAR HILL.
