11th Grade 1 Success for Jonbon in Clarence House Chase

Derby Sale graduate Jonbon won his 11th Grade 1 in the Clarence House Chase.

Derby Sale graduate Jonbon secured a second successive Grade 1 Clarence House Chase, and amazingly an 11th victory at the top level, with a battling three length victory in the weekend feature at Ascot.

The ten-year-old was produced to lead after the jumping the final obstacle, and ran on strongly to provide trainer Nicky Henderson with a third win in the race since 2022.

It was a 19th career win for Jonbon, whose weekend victory means his prize money earnings now exceed the £1.5 million mark.

A graduate of the 2019 Derby Sale, his phenomenal career statistics also show that he has never finished outside the first two positions in any of his 26 starts.

The JP McManus-owned son of Walk In The Park was purchased from Tom Whelan’s Church View Stables in June 2019 by Paul Holden and Michael Shefflin, and won his sole start between the flags in a four-year-old maiden at Dromahane.

He has become a regular in the top two-mile chases in recent seasons, and holds entries in the Queen Mother Champion Chase and the Ryanair Chase at the upcoming Cheltenham Festival.

With Store sale inspections commencing over the coming weeks, vendors are reminded that nominations for the Derby Sale close on the 30th January.
