Grade 1 glory for Derby Sale graduate OUTLANDER

The most exciting three-mile chase in Ireland to date this season, the Grade 1 Lexus Chase was the feature race on the card at Leopardstown today and it was Derby Sale graduate OUTLANDERthat took the spoils to win the title under 17-year-old Jack Kennedy.

Gordon Elliott’s son of Stowaway was runner-up in the recentGrade 1 John Durkan Chase at Punchestown. But today was his day when he battled gamely to the line to get in front of stable mateDon Poli whose dam Dalamine, a November National Hunt Sale graduate, was purchased in 2013 for €16,000. 

Owned by Gigginstown House Stud, OUTLANDER was sold by his breeder Ronnie O’Neill’s Whytemount Stud at the 2011 Derby Sale when knocked down to Philip Fenton for €78,000.
