Grade 1 Siblings Feature in August National Hunt Sale Catalogue

The catalogue for the 2026 August National Hunt Sale is now available to view online. Returning to its original August dates, the two-day sale will take place on Wednesday 12^th and Thursday 13^th August, commencing at 10.00am on both days.

A total of 577 lots has been catalogued, and a number of those featuring possess strong pedigrees. Over 50 entries were originally entered in select store sales earlier in the summer, and those horses are sure to inject added interest to the sale.

This sale has produced some smart graduates on the racecourse with the likes of Scottish Grand National winner CAPTAIN CODY, dual Grade 1 runner-up ONLY BY NIGHT, and last season’s Listed winner and Grade 1 performer ECHOING SILENCE all purchased in recent years.

In the point-to-point field, graduates of the 2025 sale include TRUE TO MY WORD, NIGHT LEAGUE, ALL NOISE and HARZWOOD. All four horses won on their debut between the flags this spring, and all subsequently made six figure sums at boutique sales.

This year’s catalogue features a half-brother to the Grade 1 Supreme Novices’ Hurdle winner OLD PARK STAR, a half-sister to the Betfair Hurdle winner SOARING GLORY and dual Grade 3 winner THREE STARS, a half-sister to the Listed winner MAGIC DAZE, a half-sister to Grade 1 winner BALLYCASEY, and a half-sister to Grade 1 winner THE REAL WHACKER.

Among the highlights in the catalogue are:

Lot 63 – a Walk In The Park half-sister to SOARING GLORY and THREE STARS.

Lot 80 – an Affinisea gelding out of a half-sister to the Irish Grand National winner SHUTTHEFRONTDOOR.

Lot 88 – an Affinisea gelding out of a half-sister to the 11-time Grade 1 winner FAUGHEEN.

Lot 131 – a Nirvana Du Berlais gelding out of a stakes performer, and a half-brother to a two-time winner and stakes placed gelding.

Lot 158 – a Blue Bresil half-sister to the Listed winner MAGIC DAZE.

Lot 187 – a Jukebox Jury filly out of the Leinster National winner MISS XIAN.

Lot 218 – a Rich History half-brother to Grade 1 winner OLD PARK STAR.

Lot 249 – a Walk In The Park filly out of a half-sister to three-time Grade 1 winner BRAVEMANSGAME.

Lot 250 – an Eagles By Day half-sister to Grade 1 winner BALLYCASEY.

Lot 305 – a two-year-old Maxios filly out of a half-sister to 10-time winner REDICEAN.

Lot 354 – a Getaway half-brother to Grade 3 winner THE KING OF PRS.

Lot 412 – a Vadamos gelding out of the dual Grade 3 winner WELL SET UP.

Lot 415 – a two-year-old Crystal Ocean filly out of a full-sister to the Listed bumper winner WESTERN RYDER.

Lot 441 – a Castle Du Berlais half-sister to the Grade 1 winner TAHMURAS.

Lot 468 – a Getaway half-brother to the dual Grade 2 winner LOOKAWAY.

Lot 477 – a Crystal Ocean half-sister to the Midlands National winner FOXY JACKS.

Lot 511 – a Poet’s Word filly out of the Listed winner CATCHERINSCRATCHER, and a half-sister to the three-time winner COACH CARTER.

Lot 534 – a Shirocco half-sister to Grade 1 winner THE REAL WHACKER.

Commenting on release of the August National Hunt Sale catalogue, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Simon Kerins said:

“We’re very pleased with the strength of this year’s catalogue, which has been very well supported by vendors following the successful Derby Sale. The move back to August was in response to vendor and purchaser feedback and this move has been well recieved. This sale always produces some very smart graduates, and I’ve no doubt that this year’s sale will do the same.

“We have some well related stores, by most of the commercially attractive sires, and I would be hopeful that results at the Derby Sale will follow through into this sale. The National Hunt market is in a healthy position at present, based on results earlier this summer, and vendors and purchasers can expect a buoyant market here in just five weeks.”

All horses catalogued and offered at the August National Hunt Sale are eligible for the 2027 renewal of the €100,000 MSL Mercedes-Benz Sales Bumper. The race will be run at the Leopardstown Christmas Festival on 28th December 2027.
