Group 2 Double for September Yearling Sale Graduates

Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale graduates enjoyed a spectacular afternoon at Doncaster today, with FINAL OBJECTIVE landing the Group 2 Flying Childers Stakes before CABALLO DE MAR followed up in the Group 2 Doncaster Cup.

CABALLO DE MAR has quickly established himself as one of the leading stayers of his generation, and he proved too strong for his rivals with a comprehensive success in the Doncaster feature.

It was an amazing tenth career victory for George Scott’s charge, whose career highlights include Group 1 victories in the Prix du Cadran and Prix Vicomtesse Vigier.

He was sold by Jerome Hulin’s Acorn Stud to Billy Jackson-Stops and George Scott for €33,000 at the 2022 September Yearling Sale, and today’s success means his prize money earnings surpass €900,000.

His trainer confirmed afterwards that a repeat bid at the Group 1 Prix du Cadran is his next target in three weeks’ time.

A total of 28 yearlings by his sire Phoenix Of Spain have been catalogued across the three days of the September Yearling Sale later this month.

In the Group 2 Flying Childers, FINAL OBJECTIVE maintained his rapid rate of improvement with a battling success.

The son of Sioux Nation was second in the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes last month, and was delivered to lead inside the last 50 yards to record a narrow neck victory.

The two-year-old is owned by Wathnan Racing, and was sold by Baroda Stud to Mick Murphy’s Longways Stables at last year’s September Yearling Sale for €55,000.

19 yearlings by his sire Sioux Nation are catalogued in this month’s September Yearling Sale.

The Andrew Balding-trained BERESFORD GAP completed a memorable day for graduates of the September Yearling Sale as he made a winning handicap debut in the Doncaster nursery. The son of Acclamation was a €27,000 purchase from Springfort Park Stud by his trainer last year.

The September Yearling Sale is firmly established as one of the leading sources of two-year-old winners this season, with over 80 individual winners across a number of racing jurisdictions.
