IMPRESSIVE GRADE 2 WIN FOR TATTERSALLS IRELAND’S THE NEW ONE

Unbeaten on his three starts over hurdles, the son of King’s Theatre is now considered as one of the leading contenders for the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, with bookmakers cutting him to 8-1 (from 12).

THE NEW ONE was sold as a foal at the 2008 November National Hunt Sale by Millbrook for €9,500 to Justin Rea. Rea’s Fairgreen Stables returned him to the corresponding sale in 2009 as a yearling selling him to Philip Dempsey for €26,000. Cleaboy Stud & Coppice Farm sold THE NEW ONE at the 2011 Derby Sale for €25,000 to Highflyer Bloodstock.

The feature race at Kempton, the Listed Lanzarote Hurdle was won by the Nicky Henderson trainer OSCARA DARA under a confident ride by Barry Geraghty.

OSCARA DARA was sold at the 2005 November National Hunt Sale by Mr TP Phelan for €26,000 to Seamus Kennedy.
