Orla McKenna to assume the role of Tattersalls Ireland Head of Bloodstock

Tattersalls Ireland is pleased to announce that Orla McKenna will take the position of Head of Bloodstock with immediate effect. Orla, who is currently in the role of Bloodstock Manager joined Tattersalls Ireland in 2006 and is a well-known figure in the racing and bloodstock industry. She has been a key member of the bloodstock team at Tattersalls Ireland for the last sixteen years co-ordinating entries and being a point of contact for vendors throughout the sales process. 

Orla has been involved with horses from a young age through ponies and pony racing, which she competed in for many years, the highlight being victory in the 1983 Dingle Derby. She also rode as an amateur for the late Dessie Hughes for a couple of years before she was approached by the late George Mernagh who offered her a role at Tattersalls Ireland. Orla made a return to the saddle in 2018 when she began riding out at Gavin Cromwell’s yard in preparation for taking part in the Corinthian Challenge. 

Commenting on the appointment, Tattersalls Ireland CEO Simon Kerins said:
