Presenting Colt Tops Day One of the Foals at the November National Hunt Sale
Rahinston Farm and Stud provided the top lot on the opening day of foal trade at the November National Hunt Sale. Their Presenting colt was the cause of some frantic bidding and was eventually secured for €52,000 and knocked down to Garrynacurra Stud (Lot 463). The colt, who is out of Another Tempest is closely related to Grade 1 winner FUNDAMENTALIST.
Signing for the docket, Eamon Maher commented; "he was the nicest colt here today. We tried to buy a few more but we got blown out. He has been bought for Daragh McDonagh who owns Garrynacurra Stud in Co. Clare and will be brought back here for the Derby Sale as a 3yo."
Two lots shared the honours of second highest price, both being purchased for €50,000.
Lot 401, a colt by the red hot sire Robin des Champs was sold by Mr Thomas Horgan on behalf Portduff Stud to Aiden Murphy. He is a half brother to black-type performers Irish Thistle and Why Not Thistle.
“He has been bought on spec. I really liked the colt. I was under bidder on the top lot so I am delighted to have got him earlier in the day.”
Richard Rohan was the successful purchaser of Lot 503, a Flemensfirth half brother to Nicky Henderson’s SIMONSIG who was sold by his breeders Simmonstown Stud.
“He has been bought for an existing client of Ballincurrig House Stud and will be reoffered here as a three-year-old at the Derby Sale. He is a gorgeous horse and I fell in love with him when I saw him.”
The sale of National Hunt Foals will continue tomorrow, Wednesday 11th November until Friday 13th November. Older Horses and Mares will be offered for sale on Saturday 14th November. The sale will start at 10am each day.
