Sapphire Sale Catalogue now Online

An increased and improved catalogue of 224 lots for the burgeoning Sapphire Sale is now online and will be available in hard copy in the coming days. The sale will start at 10.30am on Friday 17 November and will offer flat yearlings, foals and mares. 

 

Following on from a hugely successful September Yearling Sale, the Sapphire Sale gives purchasers the final opportunity to buy yearlings in Ireland and 80 lots catalogued will be eligible for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes at The Curragh as part of Irish Champions Festival in 2024. 

 

 

Some of the notable yearlings on offer include Lot 40, a Gregorian full-brother to Group 3 and Listed placed Sesame Birah, Lot 46, a Dark Angel colt out of Group 2 Queen Mary winner MAQAASID, Lot 50, a Kodiac filly out of Group 2 and Group 3 placed Mistress of Venice and Lot 58, a Dandy Man three parts sister to Group 3 winner and Group 1 placed LADY KAYA, to name just a few. 

 

There is a strong collection of 127 foals on offer which include siblings to Group performers. These include Lot 138, an Invincible Spirit half-sister to Group 2 placed Bless Him, Lot 147, a Cotai Glory half-brother to Group 1 Matron Stakes, Group 3 and Listed winner CHAMPERS ELYSEES and Lot 156, a Galileo Chrome half-brother to Group 1 winner AL RIFFA, to name just a selection. 

 

First season sire Ghaiyyath was popular at the recent yearling sales, and he is represented in the catalogue along with progeny from Arizona, Cotai Glory, Dandy Man, Havana Grey, Nando Parrado, Sioux Nation, Soldier’s Call and Waldgeist to name just a selection.  

 

A compact and eye-catching draft of mares will conclude the sale which include a half-sister to MYTHICAL MAGIC and ESENTEPE, multiple Group winner Dutoda Desejada, and daughter of Champion two-year-old filly FLY ON THE NIGHT. Covering sires include Awtaad, Phoenix of Spain, Sioux Nation, Soldier’s Call, Far Above, Alkumait, Arizona, Inns of Court, and Kuroshio. 

 

Supporters of the Sapphire Sale have been well rewarded in recent months. Some of the notable pinhooks from the Sapphire Sale include Amy Parson’s Foxley Stables turning her €8,500 yearling purchase into €65,000 at the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale. Rathasker Stud turned their Bungle IntheJungle €7,000 foal purchase into 30,000gns at the Somerville Sale. 

 

Tattersalls Ireland Live Internet Bidding will be available and prospective purchasers are requested to register with Tattersalls Ireland at least 48 hours prior to the start of sale.
