SIGNIFICANT GAINS AT TATTERSALLS IRELAND AUGUST SALE

Roger Casey, Managing Director of Tattersalls Ireland commented at the conclusion of the sale;

“Following on from the hugely successful Derby Sale, the trade at this year’s August National Hunt Sale has also been hugely encouraging, producing the highest turnover since 2007, when the sale was three days, the highest clearance rate since 2005 of 70% and the highest price for three years. We have witnessed strong demand at all levels over the past two days reflecting a continuation of the momentum generated at the market leading Derby Sale.

The ongoing impact of the success of our graduates at the highest level this year with 41 festival winning graduates in 2013, the ITBA N.H Fillies initiative and the €100,000 Tattersalls Ireland Sales Bumper continue to be attractive incentives for purchasers at the Derby and August Sales and a significant volume of lots were again sold to the UK as well as a fiercely competitive panel of domestic buyers and 10 lots were sold to Kazakhstan-a first for the August Sale.

The strong results over the past two sales can allow us look forward to our next national hunt sale with optimism. The November National Hunt Sale will take place from November 10th to 15th this year and in addition to the usual market leading foal section, will also feature the new National Hunt Yearling Show in association with the ITBA which has a €12,000 prize fund. Last year’s November Sale witnessed the highest turnover in recent years with 12 foals making €50,000 or more and we look forward to improving upon that further in 2013 with entries closing on September 27th”.
