Soldier of Fortune Gelding Tops the Yearling Section on day one of the November National Hunt Sale
The top lot today was the son of Solider of Fortune, Lot 89, from Michael and Ciara Carty’s Kilmoney Cottage Stud in Kildare. He was purchased by Trickledown Stud for €60,000. Commenting on his purchase, Paul Thorman, Trickledown Stud owner said; “He was the nicest horse in this section. He had the best pedigree and I really like him as an individual. He will be reoffered as a three-year-old.”
The gelding is out of the Aga Khan bred mare Zainzana and is closely related to Royal Bond and Hatton Grace Hurdle winner ZAIDPOUR.
Lot 87 was the second highest lot on day one of the November National Hunt Sale. The full brother to Cheltenham winner Martello Tower came from Canterbrook Stud and was sold to Dick Frisby for €50,000.
“He is a lovely horse and has a great pedigree. I look forward to bringing him back here for the Derby Sale,” said Frisby.
Ian Ferguson was also active on day one of the November National Hunt Sale. He bought two lots both by Rathbarry Stud sires; Lot 214, a handsome Robin des Champs gelding from Hillview Stud cost €48,000 and Lot 155, a Presenting half-brother to LOOSEN MY LOAD from Peter Nolan Bloodstock for €40,000.
Commenting on his purchases, Ferguson said;
“I am replenishing the stock on the farm. I loved the Presenting, he has a great pedigree. The Robin des Champs, he’s a collectors item, he’s a cracking sort.”
