Strong opening day of the Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale

The Tattersalls Ireland November National Hunt Sale got off to a strong start with a top price of €85,000 for a foal, the highest price achieved for a National Hunt foal in 2020 to date, further complemented by an aggregate of €2,167,000, a median of €8,200, an improved average of €12,526 (+2%) and a strong clearance rate of 75% (+9%).


Headlining the yearling section was the Ballyreddin Stud consigned son of Blue Bresil. The gelding related to the useful DE VALIRA and VALIRAMIX was offered by John Dwan’s operation. Michael Moore of Ballincurrig Bloodstock claimed bidding honours and Lot 32 was knocked down for €80,000. 

The star of the day was the April born colt by Getaway out of Princess Mairead. A family full of promise, the colt, consigned by Spikle Stud, is a half-brother to the five-time winner KILDISART and from the further family of Grade 1 winner RATHVINDEN. The stunning individual was knocked down to Timmy Hillman for €85,000 making him the highest priced National Hunt foal of 2020 to date (Lot 205 pictured first).


First season sire Order of St George proved popular with his first offering of National Hunt foals and was leading sire on the opening session. Ms Caroline J Berry offered a colt by the sire out of a half-sister to THE DUTCHMAN, KATIE TOO and THE PIRATE’S QUEEN. The March born colt was knocked down to Timmy Hillman for €68,000 (Lot 152).
 
Kevin Ross Bloodstock and Ben Case teamed up to secure the son of Soldier of Fortune from The Beeches Stud. The colt, out of Winged Empress, herself a daughter of five-time and Grade 2 and 3 winner SHIRLEY CASPER was sold for €52,000 (Lot 117).  
 
The highest price filly at the opening session of foals was Lot 146, a daughter of Blue Bresil from Ballincurrig House Stables. From the strong black-type family of R de Rien Sivola, Sivola and Pur de Sivola, she is out of Listed performer Little Miss Poet and was knocked down to Ferndale Stables for €40,000. 


The November National Hunt Sale continues tomorrow morning, with the sale commencing at 10am.
