Strongest Ever September Yearling Sale Catalogue Released

The September Yearling Sale continues its upward trajectory with the release of its strongest catalogue yet. The increased quality of yearlings being offered by vendors has been reflected in the outstanding results achieved by graduates on the racecourse and at Breeze Up Sales, with September Yearling Sale graduates continuing to excel at the highest level and deliver success for buyers.

The catalogue includes 540 yearlings all of which will be offered for sale across two days, commencing on Tuesday 22nd September and continuing into Wednesday 23rd September, while Part II features 220 yearlings to be sold on Thursday 24th September.

The September Yearling Sale remains a leading source of two-year-old winners, with over 50 graduates from the 2025 edition of the sale already winning across a number of racing jurisdictions. The Hugo Palmer-trained ADAAY OF SCARLETT burst on the scene at the Newmarket Craven meeting, and has proven himself a smart juvenile colt with placings in the Group 2 Coventry Stakes and Group 2 July Stakes.

Elsewhere, STAR OF STATE impressed when winning by nine lengths first time out recently at Leopardstown, and BINT ARCHANGE made the breakthrough at stakes level when taking the Listed Dragon Stakes earlier this month. In the US, SHADOW NATION earned a TDN Rising Star nomination when making a winning racecourse debut at Santa Anita.

Among the three-year-old and older graduates, CABALLO DE MAR status as a top-level stayer was confirmed when he won his second Group 1 in the Prix Vicomtesse Vigier, a remarkable ninth career win for the five-year-old who has graduated through the handicap ranks.

ALPARSLAN confirmed himself a Group 1 contender with success in the Group 3 Greenham Stakes in April, and he will now continue his racing career in Hong Kong. ROGUE DIPLOMAT continued his rapid progression with victory in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot, and finished an excellent second in the Group 2 Lennox Stakes at Goodwood. Other graduate success of note included JENNIFER JANE who recently added the Group 3 Prix Chloe to her record, while ELLUSIVE BUTTERFLY won back-to-back listed contests last month.

In total the progeny of 114 sires will be offered including STARSPANGLEDBANNER, STARMAN, GHAIYYATH, SEA THE STARS, ST MARK’S BASILICA, LITTLE BIG BEAR, NO NAY NEVER, NEW BAY, CHALDEAN, SHAQUILLE, MEHMAS, LOPE DE VEGA, PALACE PIER, GOOD GUESS, SIOUX NATION, PADDINGTON, PERSIAN FORCE, KINGMAN, GLENEAGLES, DARK ANGEL, BAYSIDE BOY, and SPACE BLUES.

Lot 35 – a No Nay Never colt out of a Group 2 winner in the US, and an own-brother to the Grade 2 winner NO NAY HUDSON.

All horses catalogued at the September Yearling Sale are eligible for the €250,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes that is held at The Curragh on Irish Champions Festival weekend in September 2027. The vendor of the winning horse in the Super Auction Sales Stakes will receive an Overlander R240 horsebox for one year.
