TATTERSALLS IRELAND SUPER AUCTION STAKES TO INCREASE IN VALUE TO €200,000 AND TO BE PART OF INAUGURAL IRISH CHAMPIONS’ WEEKEND IN 2014

Past winners of the Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Sales Stakes have included subsequent Group 1 winners Dick Turpin and Tout Seul, purchased for €26,000 and €12,500 respectively, and all graduates of the 2013 Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale are eligible for the €200,000 contest which closes 29th January 2014. While the prize money for next year’s race will increase by €75,000, the total race entry costs will remain unchanged at €1,250 as advertised in this year’s September Yearling Sale catalogue.

Commenting on the prize money increase, Tattersalls Ireland Managing Director Roger Casey said;

 “We are delighted to be able to increase the prize money for the 2014 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes to €200,000 and equally pleased that this competitive and valuable race will be part of Irish Champions’ Weekend. The Super Auction Stakes has always been hugely popular with owners and the significant increase in prize money, combined with unchanged entry costs, will make the race even more enticing than ever.

“This year’s Tattersalls Ireland September Yearling Sale saw a fifth consecutive year of growth, a top price of €180,000 and significant gains in all the key indicators and the major prize money increase for the Super Auction Stakes reflects the growing status of our premier Flat sale. We look forward to welcoming all connections to the €200,000 Tattersalls Ireland Super Auction Stakes next September at Irish Champions’ Weekend and to the continuing success of our 2014 September Yearling Sale which takes place September 23rd – 24th.”
