THREE GRADE 1 WINS ON DAY 2 OF THE CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL FOR TATTERSALLS IRELAND

The Grade 1 Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle saw a 1-2 for Derby Sale graduates as THE NEW ONE got the better of RULE THE WORLD to win the accolade.

THE NEW ONE was sold at the at the 2011 Derby Sale by Cleaboy Stud and Coppice Farm for €25,000 to Highflyer Bloodstock. He was sold as a yearling at the 2009 November National Hunt Sale by Fairgreen Stables to Philip Dempsey for €26,000. Prior to that, he was sold as a foal at the 2008 November National Hunt Sale by Millbrook for €9,500 to Justin Rea.

LORD WINDERMERE gave former jockey Jim Culloty his first Cheltenham Festival success as a trainer by winning the Grade 1 RSA Chase under jockey Davy Russell for Dr. Ronan Lambe. In second place was fellow Tattersalls Ireland graduate Lyreen Legend.

LORD WINDERMERE (purple & yellow silks) was sold at the 2006 November National Hunt Sale by Mr. Edmond Coleman for €30,000 to Kennycourt Stud.

Willie Mullins continuously dominates the Weatherbys Champion Bumper with Tattersalls Ireland graduates, most recently in 2008 with Cousin Vinny and in 2012 with yesterday’s Supreme Novices’ Champion, Champagne Fever. This year saw BRIAR HILL, partnered by Ruby Walsh claim the title for owners Graham and Andrea Wylie.
