VIBRANT DEMAND AT SEPTEMBER YEARLING SALE PART II

“We reintroduced the Part II sale on the strength of increased demand from vendors for places in our increasingly successful September Sale and we would like to thank those vendors sincerely for their support.

“This support has enabled us to increase the overall quality on offer over the first two days in Part I and to also be in a position to host the strong trade witnessed today. Part II has had purchasers from 14 countries, a top price of €56,000 and a robust clearance rate of 79%, all of which provide a strong platform to develop the Part II Sale further.

“We now look forward to working with our vendors closely to enhance both September Yearling Sale Part I and Part II in 2015”.

Many British and European-based buyers, who been busy through Part 1, stayed on for Part II, or left bidding instructions with agents. Many of the major breeze-up buyers were also active purchasers.

Sale topper of Part II was a filly by first-season yearling sire Frozen Power, bought by Ballyhane for €56,000. She was the recent recipient of a major catalogue update as Toocoolforschool, her three-quarters sister by Showcasing, was the winner of the Group 2 Mill Reef Stakes. The sale was a fine pin-hooking result for her vendors, who bought the filly as a foal for just €1,000.

“She will come back to the farm and we will make plans,” said Ballyhane’s Joe Foley. " I am delighted that the vendors got a touch today. She is a three-quarters sister to Toocoolforschool, she is a lovely yearling and very typical of those I have seen by the sire."

British trainer Ann Duffield, who bought seven lots through the two-day Part 1 sale, added to her collection in Part II when John Cullinan went to €45,000 for a daughter of Majestic Missile. The filly is a half-sister to seven winners – all the runners for the mare.

The strong results on Thursday backed up those posted through Part 1, which saw 27 and 25% increases in the average and median to €18,780 and €15,000, as well as superb clearance rate of 91 per cent.

Part II’s clearance rate remained at a more-than-healthy 79%, the average finished on €7,436 and the median at €5,000.
