Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale 2025 – Review

Robert Hall recaps on a memorable Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale as the 2025 edition reached new heights, as statistics were broken and new records were set.

The most expensive breeze up horse ever purchased in Ireland is now a son of Night of Thunder, who set the sale ring alight with some of racing’s most powerful buyers looking to purchase the chestnut. Anthony Stroud, from Stroud Coleman Bloodstock secured the two-year-old from Yeomanstown Stud for €580,000.

Across the board the Breeze Up Sale hit new heights, with turnover reaching €11,658,300, an increase of 21 per cent on 2024. Other statistics read favourably, with the average price increasing 26 per cent to €54,992, and the median increasing 14 per cent to €32,000.

The sale is famous for it’s worldwide appeal, with buyers travelling from all corners of the world. It exemplifies the international aspect to flat racing, and importantly the trust that buyers have in sourcing horses from Ireland.

The purchaser list showed that horses from the Tattersalls Ireland Breeze Up Sale will be heading to 15 different countries, among them Malaysia, Qatar, the US, Saudi Arabia, Hong Kong, the UK and Scandinavia.
