Training his first winner of the contest, Gordon Elliott provided the winner and third placed horses. Monbeg Notorious (€30,000 at the 2014 Derby Sale) stayed on strongly to win 11 lengths ahead of Wounded Warrior (€80,000 at the 2012 Derby Sale) for trainer Noel Meade - both owned by Gigginstown House Stud. Space Cadet (€100,000 at the 2013 Derby Sale) in the colours of Chris Jones and trained by Gordon Elliot finished in third and Thunder And Roses (€130,000 at the 2011 Derby Sale), ridden by Lisa O'Neill, trained by Mouse Morris in the Gigginstown colours finishing in fourth.

Monbeg Notorious was sold as a three-year-old at the 2014 Derby Sale by Ashwood Stud to Monbeg Stables for €30,000. He then went on to win his four-year-old maiden and subsequently sold to trainer Gordon Elliott for £155,000 at the 2015 Cheltenham May Sale.
